IBC - Intermediate Bulk Container - a reusable industrial container for storing and transporting liquids
HDPE - High-Density Polyethylene - the plastic material used for IBC bladders
Tote - Another common name for IBC tanks
Bladder - The inner plastic container that holds the liquid contents
Cage - The outer steel framework that protects and supports the bladder
Butterfly Valve - A type of valve commonly used on IBC tanks for flow control
Ball Valve - A valve with a rotating ball for precise flow control
Food Grade - Tanks that meet FDA standards for food contact
UN Certified - Meets United Nations standards for hazardous material transport
Reconditioned - Used tanks that have been professionally cleaned and repaired

Anatomy of an IBC Tank

Understanding the components that make up an IBC tank.

HDPE Bladder

Critical

The inner container made of high-density polyethylene. Holds the liquid contents and is resistant to many chemicals.

Steel Cage

Critical

Galvanized steel framework that protects the bladder from damage and provides structural support for stacking.

Pallet Base

Critical

The bottom platform that enables forklift handling. Available in steel, plastic, wood, or composite materials.

Fill Opening

Critical

Large top opening (typically 6" or 8") for filling the tank. Sealed with a threaded cap and gasket.

Discharge Valve

Critical

Bottom outlet valve for dispensing contents. Butterfly or ball valves are most common.

Valve Dust Cap

Protective cover for the discharge valve to prevent contamination when not in use.

Fill Cap Gasket

Rubber or silicone seal in the fill cap that ensures an airtight closure.
